GOALS/TARGETS

MAJOR INITIATIVES
The major initiatives of the education system of the institution shall be geared towards the attainment of four goals, namely:
Quality and Excellence - the provision of Vocational, Technical and Polytechnic education that meets international standards of quality and excellence;
Relevance and Responsiveness - generation and diffusion of knowledge in the broad range of disciplines relevant and responsive to the dynamically changing domestic and international environment;
Access and Equity - broadening the access of deserving and qualified Nigerians to TVE opportunities; and
Efficiency and Effectiveness - the optimization of social, institutional, and individual returns from the utilization of TVE resources.

In order to retain its leadership and maintain the quality of its academic programs, Kaduna Polytechnic:
· Recognises the need to employ and retain excellent academic and general staff and to nurture their careers.
· Encourages and resources basic and applied research and research training, including the fostering of creative outputs, appropriate to the skills base of its staff.
· Surrounds and supports its people with leading edge communications technologies, access to specialised instructional design expertise and robust information systems.
· Acknowledges the centrality of the Academic Board in setting and monitoring academic standards

MAJOR GOALS
Kaduna Polytechnic has therefore set three major goals in relation to its core business areas.

Teaching and learning
To provide a learning environment that flexibly meets the needs of a diverse student body, promotes quality teaching and enhances student learning through an education of discovery.

Research
To conduct well-focussed research leading to the creation of new knowledge that enriches both teaching and outcomes of relevance and importance locally, nationally and internationally.

Partnerships and community service
To contribute to the educational, cultural, social and economic development of the regional, national and international communities.

TARGETS
With the aforementioned strategies, our education system hopes to achieve the following targets:
Update our programmes regularly in order to maintain high standards
Review the content of all programmes to ensure its relevance to the working environment
Increase in the number of Departments offering HNDs and Post-HNDs
Increase in the number of accredited programmes
Establishment of new programmes
Ensure that Programmes are provided with the resources to produce quality graduates
Ensure a conducive environment for teaching and learning
Increase the number of intakes and graduates in priority fields
Reduced dropout of lower income groups
Significant increase in the number of beneficiaries of scholarships and other forms of student financial assistance
Proportionate increase of total costs raised from non-government sources
Ensures that research and development facilities are among the best in the country
Ensure that training and the retaining of staff (both academic and non-academic)
