Currently, the department offers National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accountancy and three Certificate courses. The department plans to start offering Post-Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Accountancy, as well as ND and HND in Banking and Finance.

ACHIEVEMENTS OF THE DEPARTMENT
The major achievement of the department is in the production of sound and articulate professional accountants that are engaged both in the private and public sectors. As a testimony to the quality of its students, two currently serving state governors in Nigeria are products of the department of accounting. Added to this is the fact that the department has specially talented staff and students that have proved their worth in their various endeavours. The department has been in partnership with the following institutional bodies: Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Institute of Chatered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), ACCA, ANAN and other professional accounting bodies that are nationally and internationally recognised.

The staff and students regularly engage in seminars, conferences, journal publications, social and recreational activities the result of which leads to quality research and experience

The department has various students' associations such as the National Association of Polytechnics Accounting Students (NAPAS). It also features actively in various sporting activities.

Among other things the department has been able to infuse values such as Self-actualization, Professionalism, and Academic excellence into the society.
